Hi this is a language question. Could anyone just help explain what is the (the shape of the) device by turning which you adjust the volume of your music? Is it a knob, or wheel or what? And on it, what make it easy for you to turn it with your finger because of increased friction? Teeth? Ridges or what?

Welcome to the forums, yourjones.

It's called a knob, and ridges is fine for what you are describing.

Thanks a lot for your help. Much appreciated!

Hi yourjones, and welcome.

We do appreciate that you want to say "thanks" but a better way is to click the "like' link at the bottom of the helpful post.

The reason is that we see a new post in the thread and think "Oh, a follow-up question!" and go to see what's up. A "like" tells us you got the answer you needed without a new post.

Thanks!

Hi Rover, just knew how to upload photos. Will you double check if the photo is what I was describing and if it should be called knob? Thanks a lot!

Yes. You could also call it the 'volume control'.

I'd call that a dial, not a knob. But they are still ridges.
