Hello to all,

I am supposed to answer this question for spoken language: What is your favorite type of weather?

First of all, I really appreciate some creative ideas about how I can go about answering this question in a colorful and creative way.

Secondly, is this correct?

I have a very varied taste when it comes to weather. I am sun-worshipper and oddly enough, I also enjoy hunkering down next to a fire in bitterly cold weather. Sometimes, I enjoy walking under teeming rain.

Can I use taste to talk about the weather? Could you please share some creative ideas about how I can talk about weather? I have no idea how to expand on it.

Stop trying to do that! It's a mundane question, so just answer it normally.

Who's asking you this, anyway? And why?

No, you can't have a taste in weather.

This is a question I was asked by one of my students and it got me thinking about how I can talk about and expand on it.

Hello to all.

First of all, I would really appreciate some creative ideas about how I can go about answering this question in a colorful and creative way.
Do something about the repetition of "creative".

Secondly, is this correct?

I have a very varied taste when it comes to weather. I am a sun-worshipper [STRIKE]and[/STRIKE] but, oddly enough, I also enjoy hunkering down next to a fire in bitterly cold weather. Sometimes, I enjoy walking [STRIKE]under[/STRIKE] in the teeming rain.

Can I use "taste" to talk about the weather? Could you please share some creative ideas about how I can talk about weather? I have no idea how to expand on it.

Note my corrections and comments above.

Why are you "supposed to answer this question"? Is it for a forthcoming test? Whoever set the question should have come up with a more "colourful and creative" question for you to answer.

Edit: While I was writing this, you wrote post #3. So - do you have to answer the question or does your student have to answer it?

The expression is:

pouring rain

_____________

creative - original

"teeming rain" is OK in BrE.

Thank you for your notes.

Honestly, my student asked this question from me. I gave him a mundane answer. But then it got me thinking. I keep asking myself how I can talk about my favorite weather in an interesting way.

Since taste does not work, how can I fix this?

I have a very varied taste when it comes to weather. I am sun-worshipper and oddly enough, I also enjoy hunkering down next to a fire in bitterly cold weather. Sometimes, I enjoy walking under teeming rain.

How about "I enjoy all sorts of weather"?

Please don't mislead us when you post. The sentence "I am supposed to answer this question" is basically a lie.

Misleading you is the last thing I would want to do. Maybe I could not express myself clearly.

I sincerely apologize for the confusion that was created.

I don't think alpacinoutd meant to lie.

I should clarify - I wasn't accusing the OP of intentionally lying to us, with any malicious intent. However, it did turn out to be untrue.

Does this work?

I enjoy all sorts of weather. I am sun-worshipper and oddly enough, I also enjoy hunkering down next to a fire in bitterly cold weather. I also enjoy walking under teeming rain every once in a while.

Did you notice the two corrections I made earlier? Look back at my first post.

You've missed an article somewhere in the second sentence.

I think you mean but, not and.

I don't see why you'd use under instead of in.

You are right.

Is this OK and natural?

I enjoy all sorts of weather. I am a sun-worshipper but, oddly enough, I also enjoy hunkering down next to a fire in bitterly cold weather. I also enjoy walking in the teeming\pouring rain every once in a while.

Sorry, emsr2d2. I should have been aware of that.

Yes, it's OK and natural. I would, however, do something about the repetition of "enjoy". Also, your slash goes in the wrong direction. It should be "teeming/pouring".

Do they work?

I enjoy all sorts of weather. I am a sun-worshipper but, oddly enough, I sometime also relish hunkering down next to a fire in bitterly cold weather. I also take pleasure in /delight in walking in the teeming rain every once in a while.

I sometime also relish hunkering down next to a fire in bitterly cold weather.

So you're saying that what you like about bitterly cold weather is being out of it? That doesn't make too much sense, does it?

So I should omit "oddly enough" ?

I enjoy all sorts of weather. I am a sun-worshipper. I sometime also relish hunkering down next to a fire in bitterly cold weather. On the other hand, I also take pleasure in /delight in walking in the teeming rain every once in a while.
