when to use future continuous

I did some tests.

"He is going to be waiting for us when our train arrives" (correct)

He will be waiting for us when our train arrives (incorrect)

I am wondering when do we use "will be waiting" and "going to be waiting"

I am rather confused. Thank you

I'm confused, too! As far as I'm concerned they are both correct. We regularly use the present continuous in place of the "normal" future.

Who's going to pick us up at the station?
My uncle. He's going to be waiting for us when our train arrives.

Who will pick us up at the station?
My uncle. He will be waiting for us when our train arrives.

I can't see a problem with either sentence.
