Should I use when or if in this context:

Patrick got assaulted. The assailant threatened Patrick, saying that he would kill him. Couple of hours later, Patrick confronted the assailant and said, "You do know what happens (when or if) someone threatens me?"

Next question: Is the question mark used properly in the sentence above? (I don't want to use "do you know.") Assuming that the assailant doesn't know what happens.

I would use when.

About the second question, given the condition you set, I would use this:
-You don't want to know what happens when someone threatens me.

After careful thought, I've also decided to use when. Thanks anyway.

The question mark's fine to me- we could use that wording to ask a question. Also, given that it has happened, when makes more sense to me.
