What is the best way to connect the following two ideas:

In the beginning I used (while) but when I sent my paper to the "writing center" in my school they changed it to (in which), but in fact, I am not convinced by their change,, maybe they did not understand the meaning which I want to express in my own language "Arabia".
Now, after I did a couple search, I tend to use (whereas)
???
