Which one is correct "Colors from the active theme palette" or "Colors from the active theme's palette"?

Which one of the following sentences is correct? (Added by moderator.)

1. Use colors from the active theme palette.
2. Use colors from the active theme's palette.

Context:
By active theme I mean the one that is currently enabled. I'm talking about the color scheme of a computer application. What I'm interested in is the use of that apostrophe. Is that required?
