Hello, there!

I am a new learner, and there is something I would like to ask.

Which one of the following sentences is correct?

"Documentary films ARE made so that we CAN understand and appreciate our reality even more."

"Documentary films WERE made so that we COULD understand and appreciate our reality even more."

"Documentary films WERE made so that we CAN understand and appreciate our reality even more."

:-?

the third sentence is wrong.1 and 2 are correct.

The third sentence is possible. They were made in the past so that we can understand now.

Somehow, but not exactly. There are better structures than this.

"Documentary films ARE made so that we CAN understand and appreciate our reality even more."

When you are talking about something in general, the simple present tense is more appropriate.

'Our reality' could be replaced with a better word.
