Is "has the taken center stage" a mistake (we usually use the phrase "take center stage" and so "has taken center stage" is best understood? But "has the taken center stage" can't be absolutely ungrammatical. sothere is still a possibility that AP deliberately expressed it this way and has had a different meaning.
