Why you dey vex? You know I love you, baby, why you dey stress? ......
Source: Lyrics

Well I just picked up a small part of the content to post here because the lyric appears to be vulgar and unfitting for here.

I am wondering whether you native English speakers can figure out what the lyric says. For example, what does "dey vex" mean in the title? It seems to be Nigerian Pidgin English and not worth learning unless you want to visit Nigeria to study something there.

I think "dey vex" means "the vex".

In effect he's asking "Why are you vexed?" (Why're you distressed? Why're you worried?)

Similarly, "why you dey stress?" means "Why're you feeling stressed?"

(The singer, Omar Sterling, is from Ghana, not Nigeria.)

Pidgin seems an apt description to me. It makes no sense in standard English.

Why dey vex? = why are they vexed?
Why you dey vex? = why do you vex them?
