Hi,

I wonder if this idiom makes any sense to you in English:

Win without boasting, lose without squealing.

If you win a game, competition, get the highest score in your class, don't be pround of yourself and therefore boast of your achievement. If you lose, don't complain, learn from you mistakes and try again.

If not, are there any English versions or rewrites?

I wouldn't call it an idiom because its ordinary meaning is clear.

Hi,

I wonder if this idiom makes any sense to you in English:

Win without boasting, lose without squealing.

If you win a game or a competition, or get the highest score in your class, don't be [STRIKE]pround[/STRIKE] proud of yourself and [STRIKE]therefore[/STRIKE] boast of your achievement. If you lose, don't complain; learn from your mistakes and try again.

If not, are there any English versions or rewrites?

Note my corrections above. I don't think it's fair to tell someone not to be proud of themselves. You can be proud of an achievement without boasting about it.

I think the expression is just a translation from its Chinese version.

Will any native speaker use it? Or have you ever heard of it being used?

It's new to me.
