[General] wistful

Hi.

These sentences are from my notebook but the source is unknown. I need your help.

1) She had a last, wistful look round the flat.
2) The child looked with wistful eyes at the toys in the window.
3) They often talked together in a wistful way about their homes and families.


1) is okay to me. 2 is not okay. 3) is not natural at all.
 
They're all OK for me.
 
They're all OK. I would say "She took a last, wistful look ...". Also, I might replace "a" with "one". It just has more impact.

I took one long, last look at her as she boarded the bus, knowing I would never see her again.
