Hello everyone,
From the book Choose Your Story, Change Your Life by Kindra Hall.

After the final curtain call of that fateful amateur production of The Wizard of Oz, my mother and I went to the lobby to greet the actors and have my program signed by the small-town celebrities. To my delight, my mother knew the Scarecrow. He was probably a guy from church, but I was immensely impressed, and apparently, the feeling was mutual; he took one look at me in my blue- and white-checked dress, then crouched beside me and asked,
“Do you want to meet Dorothy?”
My wide eyes and wondrous nod were a clear yes. He scooped me up and carried me off backstage.

Does "wondrous nod" mean she was surprised or does it mean that her nod looked very beautiful/amazing?

It means that she had an expression of wonder (not quite the same as surprise) on her face.
