Collins dictionary

Hello,
What does 'woody wall' mean in respect to nuts?

I learnt a new word today - indehiscent.

Me, too.

That's why nutcrackers were invented.

In medicine, the term "dehiscence" is used to describe the splitting open of a surgical wound.

Not a doctor/vet.

I have been known to split an infinitive, but never to split open a surgical wound, which probably explains my unfamiliarity with the word.

Splitting an infinitive causes fewer problems.

I am not a teacher.

To boldly dehisce where no nut has dehisced before.

...or with nutcrackers (ouch!)
