I was with my friend in a coffee shop and I was a bit hungry. I wanted to buy some snack and I saw the donuts. I asked my friend if also wanted.

Would you like a donut?

Is my question natural?

I asked my fiend if he also wanted one/some.

The rest is fine.

If you prefer British English, it's spelt 'doughnut'.

I wanted to buy a snack or some snacks but not some snack.

The donuts that were on sale?

The donuts that were on sale?

No. The donuts which are put at the counter. There's a box-like container, when you order drinks you can see it.

Which donuts did you see? You haven't mentioned any till now.

Sorry, I don't understand this question.

GoesStation is talking about your use of "the".

I see. Much appreicated. I was referring to the donuts in the window. Like those cakes and hamburgers in Starbucks and some coffee shops. I don't think it's correct to say "window" but I don't know the term.

Did they have some donuts on display in the window of the shop, but they weren't ones you can buy (presumably because they've been there for months!)?

Yes. Please take a look at this picture. At most of the Starbucks in China, we can see a small window (cakes and hamburgers) are on display there. (To the left side of the picture. A very small one right next to the counter.)

I was in a coffee shop, not a Starbucks. The shop sells cakes and donuts. So I asked if my friend if he wanted a donut. The context is that he knows the shop is selling donuts. They won't be there for months because local government here pay close attention to the food safety issues.

I was wondering which donuts you were talking about in the first quote. I've underlined the article that puzzled me.

My friend knows that the shop is selling donuts, GS. I was referring to the donuts which are sold in that coffee shop. It's like we go to McDnoald's and I ask you "Would you like some chicken nuggets?"
