Can we say "keep a news diary"?

It's usually possible to exchange "keep" for "write" when talking about a diary. I would say though that I'm not too sure what a "news diary" is. Were they suggesting that you keep a diary detailing interesting news stories from each day?

When I was in junior high school, my English teacher told me that we should not say" write a diary" we must say "keep a diary" why this title says Write a news diary ? this is my question.

As I said in my first reply, as far as I'm concerned they are interchangeable. Some people say "I keep a diary" and others say "I write a diary". I wouldn't say one is right and one is wrong.
