That's not clear from the given excerpt. Is he ending the contact or does he want to resume contact?
We'd need a bit more of the conversation to say with certainty, but as is, it reads like a platitude.
I'm guessing that you wished him well or perhaps asked if he was doing well. He then stated 'yes' to your question, and followed with the normal, socially expected polite response. It's almost impossible to tell from written text whether he's sincere or just being polite. You need to see facial reactions and hear to hear inflections to accurately gauge the sincerity and actual interest.
That's not clear from the given excerpt.
By "contact" do you mean "relationship"?Is this a polite way of ending the conversation or is it an indirect question with genuine interest?
Normally I would think that because it's not a question, it's not genuine interest.
It's about someone who wanted some distance and has now written again with an explanation.
I answered him nicely and then came this. Is he ending the contact or does he want to resume contact?
[..........]
It's hard to tell much about the relationship from that. Both parties are being polite. Neither is rude to the other. Anything else would be a guess.Ok, so he resumed contact after A FEW weeks:
1. HE: Hi, I'm all very sorry and I think I owe you an explanation because it's never nice when something like this happens. I was very ill (..explaining his illness..). I hope you have been doing well and your job is going well!
2. ME: Hello, I am very sorry (.. very understanding..) Hopefully YOU'LL get better quickly!
3. HIM: Thank you very muchand I hope everything is going well with you as well
How on earth did you work that out from the excerpts given? They all sounded entirely platonic to me. I was really surprised when the OP confirmed they were talking about dating.By "contact" do you mean "relationship"?
