Are both sentences correct and do they convey the same meaning?

Yestarday for lunch, I had a sandwich.
Yestarday for lunch, I took a sandwich.

I think "I had a sandwich for lunch yesterday" sounded more natural.

You could say : For lunch yesterday, I had a sandwich.

I think "today" and "yesterday" are more commonly used at the end of a sentence in English, unlike other languages that I know(Chinese and Malay).

I suppose you could use the second one, but only in a very limited situation, where you're listing what you had taken as a packed lunch the last few days.

Monday I took fried chicken and fruit. Tuesday I took leftovers and mashed potatoes. Yesterday I took a sandwich and chips. I don't know what I'm going to take for tomorrow.
