My mom bought my granddad some kiwifruits but they are hard as stones. I said to my granddad "You need to put them aside for a few days to eat them".

Is my sentence natural?

With my changes above, it's OK, although I'd say "put them aside" is a bit formal for the context. I'd just say "You need to leave them ..." or "Give them a few days to ripen ...".
 
"Give them a few days to ripen ...".
I wonder if both "Give them a few days to ripen" and "Give them a few days to ripen before eating them" are both fine.
 
They're both OK.
