In Anna Nicole Smith's custody case after her death, former judge Larry Seidlin (the one who famously wept) said "you want you goose and your gander". Any idea what he meant by that?
The only goose/gander idiom I know is 'What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander'. The judge in this case seems to be saying something like 'You want to have your cake and eat it too' (Have your cake and eat it too - Idiom Definition - UsingEnglish.com ), but he's using an idiom I haven't met.
