Do you want the origin, or just to have a better understanding of what it means?
I've heard and read the phrase "a boy can dream, can't he?" (also "a man can dream, can't he?"). Sound like it might be a line from a book or movie. Plenty of search matches on the phrase, but none told me the origin of it.

I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
I'm just curious about the origin. Thanks.
