What is a hearing? What type of hearing?
Probably the most common context (note however that I shouldn't have to guess) is people listening to music. If they play their favourite bits, this means they keep rearranging the musical device so that the favourite bits of their songs are heard.
Without context, it seems just a little too obvious.
