The World Food Program(WFP) is carrying outseveral projects focused on preventing hunger taking hold in the future andbreaking the cycle of hunger which is at its root.

I think "which" here refers to "cycle" and "its" refers to "hunger's" .

Am I right? Or what is your opinion?

Thanks!

Jason

It's rather circular. The cycle of hunger is at the root of hunger? What does that mean?

It's saying that the cycle of hunger is the root cause of hunger taking hold in the future.
which = the cycle
it = the likelihood that hunger will take hold again in the future
