"will be held" or "is going to be held" ?

Hi. I am new at English. Forgive me if I have mistakes while I am writing.

Which sentence should be used when we want to talk about an event that was arranged by someones before. For instance, assuming there is an event next week, a festival. What should I say?

"The festival will be held on Monday, 16 January 2010."

or

"The festival is going to be held on Monday, 16 January 2010."

I'm not a teacher.
As far as I know festivals (or any events) are used with the will future.
This means in your case sentence 1 should be right.

However, I'm not an expert (as said).
So let's wait until a teacher writes something.

Both "will" and "be going to" can express the idea of a general prediction about the future. But when it comes to express that something is a plan or predetermined, then “Be going to" is more appropriate or preferred. Look at these sentences:
It's very cold in here. Yes, you are right. I will close the window . (Instaneous decission)
Why are you wearing a tracksuit?I am going to play tennis in the park with David.(already planned)

So here, since the date of the festival is known it is predetermined. so say:
The festival is going to be held on Monday, 16 January 2010.

But if you think this way, it has to be:

The festival is being held on Monday, 16 January 2010.

The new game is being released in summer 2010.
The new movie is coming this month.

(They often use Present Progressive for release dates or any dates if it's 100% sure.)

It doesn't have to be the present continuous/progressive, but it is an option.
