[Vocabulary] Because vs seeing that

Hi,

Question:
Any difference between because and seeing that?

Sentence1:

Seeing that/because he is ill, we'll do the work for him.
Sentence2:
We may as well go to the concert, seeing that/because we've already paid for the tickets.

In BrE, it's usually "seeing as", not "seeing that" and it normally replaces "In view of the fact that..." or "In light of the fact that..."

Having said that, it can sometimes be replaced by "because" but it's not exactly the same.

We may as well go to the concert seeing as we've already paid for the tickets.

I can't quite explain why, but it's not exactly the same as:

We may as well go to the concert because we've already paid for the tickets.
