Hi! What is the exact meaning of “street machine,”? Thepassage is from a political text. In fact it is from a telegram sent by anembassy and has a special shortened style. It isabout political competition between two rivals. As between M1 and M2, it appears that M1 has stillthe greater strength although he has obviously lost some prestige in Parliamentand among the people. M2’s following, however, is better consolidated in the capital through a well-organized “streetmachine,” which M1 does notpossess.
Thanks very much.

Please enlarge the text and insert spaces in the pairs of words which have been run together.

It's probably a large army of volunteers ----handing out flyers, people going door-to-door, maybe a tour bus, volunteers holding town-hall meetings, etc. I have not run into that expression in the US, plus the US doesn't have a Parliament, so perhaps 'street machine' is common elsewhere.

How did you get hold of such a telegram? Or was it reproduced and in the news?

Hi! Thanks, you are rite, I saw the telegram in the site of foreign affairs of the US.
Thanks very much.

Pars, you still haven't done what you were asked to do in post #2. When you copied and pasted the text, it caused problems. Please practise editing posts by making the requested changes to post #1.

Hi!
Excuse me, please! I have tried several times to do so, but I don't know for what reason it is not possible for me. My key board works always correctly, but here not. But I will try again. Accept my apology, please!
