I just want some clarification as to which of these two sentences are correct with regard to the term receive/received:

I wasn't sure whether I was going to see you on your birthday so wanted to make sure you receive your present on the day!
Or
I wasn't sure whether I was going to see you on your birthday so wanted to make sure you received your present on the day!
If it helps, the statement was written before the birthday.
Thanks in advance!

The second is more likely, but, given that the statement was written before the birthday, the first is possible.
