In the context you gave, those answers are absolutely right, but be careful using this expression because it is often heavily ironic.

For example:

A. "Wow, you look a mess today."
B. "That means a great deal, coming from you!"

B is saying here that A always looks a terrible mess, so his statement does not actually mean a great deal. This use normally comes as a response to a criticism.
