Beyond these two, there is no one else in the real sense of the term.
***** NOT A TEACHER *****
Hello, David:
This is how I interpret it:
Advani is old and a loser; Modi is disgraced. So the BJP has no one else who has any realistic possibility of gaining the
office of prime minister. Although the BJP may nominate someone to be its "candidate," that term ("candidate")
really/
truly means
nothing because s/he has
absolutely no chance whatsoever of winning. Whomever the BJP
nominates, s/he will be a "candidate" only in name. No one will pay any attention to him/her.
For example, here in the United States we voters will choose a president in November. We will choose between Mr.
Obama and Mr. Romney. There WILL be other names on the ballot. But those other people have absolutely no
chance whatsoever of winning. So besides Messrs. Obama and Romney, we have no choice
in the real sense of the
term. (The term is "choice." IF we had a real choice, there would be at least three candidates who offered us a choice.
But there are only two choices in the real sense -- realistically speaking -- of the term "choice.")
HAVE A NICE DAY!
