Question: Can "a description" be followed by a that-clause?

For example,

In the email, please include a description that the product has been shipped.

I guess there might be better words than "description" here, but what I'd like to know is whether "a description" can be followed by a that-clause or not.

Not in that context, no.

I have a seen a description that confused me.
I have seen a description which confused me.

For your context, "Please include confirmation that the product has been shipped" would be better.

"A mention that..." doesn't work either here, does it?

... a mention that the product has been shipped.

("Please mention that the product has been shipped" would work, though.)

How about "a statement that..." and "information that"?

... a statement that the product has been shipped.
... information that the product has been shipped.

I don't find the use of the word "mention" natural at all in this context. If you mention something, you don't make a big thing of it, you throw it into a conversation, you make a passing comment about it. In your context, the confirmation that the product has been shipped is of vital importance. You don't just want to mention it.

I see. Then I won't use "mention" in that case.

In other cases where I want to "mention" something, can "a mention" be followed by a that-clause? (I guess not.)

How about "a statement" and "information"? Can they be followed by a that-clause? (I guess they can.)

Please give example sentences showing how you wish to use the constructions you are querying.

I agree with emsr about "confirmation". You could also use "notification".

In the email notifying him of your success, please include a mention that I'm looking forward to seeing him.
This usage of "mention that" is incorrect, isn't it?

As for the question about "a statement" and "information", I meant the same situation as the first question in this thread.
In the email, please include a statement that the product has been shipped.
In the email, please include information that the product has been shipped.
Do they both work?
