What does my accent sound like to you?

I'm just wondering why so many people always tell me that I have a strange accent. I have recorded myself reading a passage, and I'd like you to tell me what you think of it and where you think that accent could be from (geographically speaking) ;-).

Well, you are attempting an American accent, but you are not a native speaker in my opinion.

If you are a native speaker, as your profile says, I have to agree with all the people who say it's a strange accent. If you're not, you still have some work to do. I had trouble understanding some of it.

Your "o" sounds are all very strange. "gold" sounded like "goo-uld."

Your vowels are all a bit off. Have you recorded yourself and then compared it to a recording of a native speaker reading the exact same passage?
