Peter told me he had bought the car which the ABC company produced.

'Peter told me he had bought the car which the ABC company produced.'
Is it correct to use the simple past 'produced' which happened before 'he had bought the car'?

Many would use the past perfect there because the car was produced before Peter bought it. But the context makes that clear, so the simple past also works.
