Hello,

This is a line from a student's retelling:'She understands me with first words.'
I see what the student wanted to say, but this way it is wrong.
A word-for-word Russian translation would be - She understands me with half a word.
I think the simplest way of saying this would be:'We understand each other without words.'
But what about these expressions - 'she is quick on the uptake', 'she catches what I am about to say at once'?

Thank you in advance

"She understands me straight away."
Naturally, if she understands me without words, that's an entirely different meaning.
