Lefty asks Pistone:
Lefty: You don't got a family?
Pistone: No, I'm an orphan. I grew up in an orphanage.
Lefty: Ain't the question, even if you had a family.
What does "Ain't the question" mean?
It means he doesn’t care about the orphan part, and is basically saying or implying birth family isn’t the only family out there?
Source: Donnie Brasco (a 1997 American crime drama film directed by Mike Newell)
