Hi,
I cannot understand what the below sentence means?

A liquid said by Pierset to have properties known to be similar to to those of UF
.

Thanks

Pierset says that the liquid has properties that we know are similar to those of UF.

But what on earth is UF?

I did an acronymfinder search when I answered and found urea-formaldehyde, but have no idea if that is right.

That's easy for you to say!

My search led me to the University of Florida.
