Book: Bobby Fisher teaches chess

A mate for White.

Just an experiment so far. Please, tell me who has won. This is by Bobby Fisher, so there supposed to be no bad English case here.

I know the answer as I have read it in the book. I'm just wondering whether people whose first language is English can really understand what is written here.

Or maybe opinions will split in two.

It means that white can put black in checkmate, i.e., white wins.

I don't think anybody familiar with chess would interpret it the other way.

Your "atrached thumbnails" don't work for me Grab. Please repost them.

For me, the only interpretation is to see White as the winner.
