What is a noun for a large group of people with the same uniform?

Jack wore his boy scout uniform. Entering the premise, he joined a .....of boy scouts wearing the same uniform.

I know I can use army but I don't like it here. I'm looking for other options.

The term for a group of Boy Scouts is a "troop" but that only works if the boys in question are all members of the same troop. You can also use:

horde
gaggle
large group

Note that when "Boy Scouts" is used as a noun, it should be capitalised. As an adjective, it's not capitalised. You might want to check on the definition of "premise". It's not a singular form of "premises", which is the word we use in your context.
