Hi.

I watched the news saying that many cities in the US have riots because of the death of a black man. I asked my friend in the US. I said "Is there a riot in your city?". Is my question natural?

It's not terrible. A native speaker would be more likely to say something like Have there been any riots or Has there been rioting. A more neutral way to ask is What's the situation in your city?

Silver: Has there been any rioting in your city?
Tarheel: Yes, there has. The local authorities have declared a state of emergency.

I hope everything goes well for all of you in the US.

Is your city affected by the rioting in the US?

In BrE, you could also say Are there riots in your city? We often use the plural.
