Which sentences correct according to you?

A) Tom and Tina were grinding all night long.
B) Tom and Tina were grinding all night.
C) Tom and Tina were grinding all the night.
D) Tom and Tina were grinding whole night.
E) Tom and Tina were grinding the whole night.

What is the diference between "all" and "whole" in this case? Which form is mostly used by native speakers?

We definitely cannot use sentence D.

maybe the other examples just depend on the preference of the speaker. As a native, I would plump for 'the whole night' or 'all night long'.

I don't believe that there is any difference in meaning between 'whole' and 'all' (in this context).

It's similar to: He ate all the cake, or he ate the whole cake. Both mean there is no cake left. :-(
