1) The swimming pools are open all the summer.

Are they both correct?

Well, I don't think I'd ever catch myself saying that second sentence. However, I hesitate to pass final judgment on it because it seems like I've seen that form before. "The swimming pools are open all summer long." is also a good sentence.
