Hello guys,
I was taught not to use also in negative sentences.
He is also not right.
The new patch is also not a solution.
I also don't like that rule.

Theoretically, we could simply cheat:
He is also wrong.
The new patch is also no solution.
I also dislike that rule.

Are the first three sentences really grammatically not correct?
We all understand them, but this doesn't automatically mean they are correct ;-)
Could there be a chance that it's an AmE vs. BrE topic :?:

Cheers!

I did not know that. Could you please provide some reference?

I learned that in school many years ago.
We'll see if it's really true ;-)

Cheers!

Do you mean to say that you cannot write -
Not only does he sing, but he also dances.
She not only led the team in dancing but also in singing.
Why not buy this now and also get the bonus trip?

I'm really sorry, but I don't understand anything :-|
She not only
Why not buy

Why such fragmentations??
And what do you mean by "-"?
Did you just use it instead of a ":"?

And no, I don't think your sentences match mine - I think their kind is different.

Cheers!

IMO:
Also implies that there's a kind of something good added and that's fine.
Too would mean to add something either bad or not that good.

So => He is also experienced in playing football
=> He isnt good at playing football, too

That sounds more proper to my ears as also+not would sound weird

Not a teacher at all

Correction:
Either would mean to add something either bad or not that good.

=> He isnt good at playing football either.

(As far as I know).

Cheers!

?

He isnt good at playing football too

That sentence is correct unless a native speaker comes and argues that s/he has never heard of it and that's uncorrect as well.

Maybe I am obviously wrong :)

Guys, we need your help :)

Cheers!
