Hello teachers,

Is this sentence correct?

Whom should I marry among you three?

or

Among you three whom should I marry?

Hello teachers,

Is this sentence correct?

Whom should I marry among you three?

or

Among you three whom should I marry?

Either.

If I were ever in that unlikely situation, I should say, "Which of you three should I marry?'

If I were ever in that unlikely situation, I should say, "Which of you three should I marry?'

So, is it wrong or unnatural? sir.

Let me give you few more examples.

1)Whose book among you three should I carry?

2)Whose car among you three Should I repair?

3)Whose pen among you three did I borrow?

Thank you.

When Bill said either, he meant that both are correct.

Your additional examples are all wrong.

Thank you.

By saying "you three" you suggest that you are speaking directly to the three involved. Are you in the habit of talking to books, cars or pens?

They are all unnatural.

I's simply say:
Whose book should I carry?
Whose car should I repair?
Whose pen did I borrow?

If I am addressing three people, there is no need to mention the fact.

Does it mean so? ma'am.

I am addressing three people and asking question.

For eg,

I am asked to repair a car. I go to the three people and ask whose car among you three should I repair?

Sir, If I want to mention the number then how am I supposed to ask?

Hello sir,

Thank you for your reply.

You agreed that the example given in my first post is right but you say examples given in the fifth post is wrong which, I think, is similar to the first example.

So, can't we form the sentence with among?

Thank you sir.
Yes. "Who among you three needs their car repaired" for example.

Yes. "Who among you three needs their car repaired" for example.

Thank you sir.

If who among you three should I marry? is right then why not whose car among you three should I repair?

I am asked to repair a car. I go to the three people and ask whose car among you three should I repair?

No, as I said "you three" refers to whoever it is you are talking to.

If you are standing in front of three people, you could say "Which of you three stole my car?" or "Shall I take you three to the cinema tonight?" etc.

If there are three people in front of you, and you can't remember which person's pen you borrowed, you would say either "Which of you three lent me a pen?" or "Whose pen did I borrow?" but you can't associate "you three" with the "three pens".

Thank you madam.

I think I am misunderstood. I am not saying there are three pens.

Whose pen among you three did I borrow?

Does it mean that I am talking to the pens?

What I actually have in my mind is: I borrowed someone's pen but I forgot who that was but I know that I borrowed from those people standing there. So, I go staight and ask them Whose pen among you three did I borrow?

The reason for asking this question repeatedly is that I haven't understood it properly. So, forgive me if I have created any trouble madam.

Which of you three lent me a pen?

End of problem.

End of problem.

One final question.

I was asked by teacher to find the id card of a girl. there were three girls standing there. So, how Should I ask?

Whose id card am I supposed to find? I think this is the right one.

But if I want to include you three then how should I form the sentence?

Thank you.
