Hello,

Imagine you are talking to your friend. He says the pandemic will be over by the end of this summer. Then you say this: That is a very optimistic prediction.

I dimly remember I heard an idiom or an expression which has the same meaning. Maybe it had something like "that is putting it..."

Is there an idiom which could be used instead of "That is a very optimistic prediction" ?

What are alternative ways of saying that?

I wonder if you're referring to putting it mildly.

If so, it doesn't work here.

Could I say this?

That is putting it optimistically.

That is looking at it on the bright side.

I'd go with "That's looking on the bright side" for that. I'd probably say "That's optimistic" or "In your dreams!"

Yes. Or "sunny side."
