The second example does indeed apply.
I am feeling ashamed, but somehow I have some Computer problems and it always showed some errors while I posted, so I had to type it multiple times until I saw I even double or tripple posted it, but now I am not sure which version you saw and which was the second example in the post you saw.
Can you quote the version that applies? then we can close the thread.
two different meanings for "either" in the dictionary:
1.You answer the same way in (only) one of the two cases and...
2. You answer the same way in both cases and...
