The other day one of my students asked me which of the following choices cannot be a response to the question "Would you mind bringing some hot coffee?"

And the five alternatives are:

a)Of course not.
b)No problem.
c)Sorry, I can't.
d)Never mind.
e)Not at all.

I instantly told him that the ')Never mind' doesn't sound natural and only marginally grammatical as an answer to the question. But he said that his school teacher differed, as she singled out 'c)Sorry, I can't' as the correct answer.

I want to hear from you native teachers.

The teacher was wrong. I agree with you.

+1 (even if I'm not native - hope this vote counts, too ;-)).

d) doesn't work for me and c) does.

Another native for D.

D is the only answer which just doesn't work at all as a response to the given question. You might want to print out this page of comments and take it to your teacher.

"Sorry, the lawyers don't allow us to serve hot coffee anymore."
