Good day

I need to know about a collocation which has the opposite meaning of "Melting pot". It should be exactly a collocation not just a single word.

Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the forum, Rosetto.:-D

Have you any reason to think there is an antonym of 'melting pot'?

In what context do you want to use such a thing?

Please note my corrections (in red) and comments (in grey) above.

These aren't exact opposites, but depending on what you want to say, you might use segregated community or homogenous community.

NOT A TEACHER

Hi,

A "melting pot" means that different groups of people come together and blend into a single group.

I do not know whether it has an opposite meaning, but many American textbooks no longer use that term. Some prefer to use the term "salad bowl." That is to say, different groups come together, but each group continues to maintain its own particular identity.

You could also say insular community.

I like stew.

But to get back to the question, what's the opposite of a salad bowl? A napkin ring?

A plate of sausages?

Rosseto, please let us know whether any of the above has been helpful. If not, at least tell us why you 'need to know' this.
