NOT A TEACHER (1) "This is greed at its most basic level" = this is an obvious, animalistic example of greed: At dinner, a cruel father takes 3/4 of the cake and lets his wife and children share the remaining 1/4. (2) But greed is often on a higher level: In some countries, there is little money to pay for schools, bridges, etc. because the rich people refuse to pay any taxes. This is greed on a different level: it is not so obvious (as the cruel father's greed), so it is harder to see and understand.
