Long story short many many people told me i sound like i'm trying too hard to fake an accent, sure i'm not native and i don't expect myself to sound like a native English speaker but after all the practice i put in i still get these kinds of comments. If you got time could you analyze my voice and tell me what i do wrong so that i can try to fix it?

I strongly disagree with those who think you are faking an accent. I think you sound authentically American, right down to the false vowels of the midwest. Had I heard your Vocaroo without knowing you were not a native speaker, I'd have guessed you were from Chicago.

It doesn't sound like you're faking anything. You do sound American to me. I don't detect any kind of an accent.

In fact, Canadians will only be revealed as being Canadians if they say are. (I once overheard a Canadian say, "We're Canadians." Only those words revealed his nationality -- not any kind of accent.)

To cut a long story short, many many people have told me [that] I sound like I'm trying too hard to fake an accent. Sure, I'm not a native English speaker and I don't expect myself to sound like a native English speaker one, but after all the practice I've put in I still get these kinds of comments. If you've got time, could you analyze my voice [recording] and tell me what I do did/got wrong so that I can try to fix it?
I can't listen to your recording at the moment but please note my corrections to your post above. On the forum, it's important to write in complete sentences and to correctly use capitalisation and punctuation.

Maybe faking the manner of speaking -- trying to sound too casual and informal?

I wouldn't think you were foreign at all. Your pronunciation of "audio" seemed a little off, but you in general sound like an upper Midwest person.

I do interact with Saudi Arabians and they speak English well, but are nothing like the accent you are using. That may be why people think you're faking something.
