Hi, A friend of mine wrote to me saying I have ballsy humor. I'm fairly sure he meant that in a positive sense, I'm only curious as to what it means exactly. What kind of humor is that? Like strong, cutting, sarcastic or what? He's Irish, from Belfast, I don't know if there are regional differences in that regard.
Thanks.

Yes - strong, cutting, sarcastic. incisive, sardonic, abrasive, feisty, assertive, indomitable... The thing about slang (as with all language, but more so if it's not codified) is that single unchanging atomic meanings just don't exist..

I'll expand the explanation a bit further, but will try to take care, being a newbie!

'Ballsy' means 'having balls'. Balls is a euphemism for testicles, so "ballsy humor" means you have the (desireable) male trait of being brave and willing to risk offending someone. It was definitely meant as a compliment.
