Hello,
I saw these two sentences recently and I wonder which tense is correct. I'd be grateful if you could help me choose the right one.
1."I didn't go to the meeting yesterday because I was not invited."
2."I didn't go to the meeting yesterday because I had not been invited."
 
It depends on what you want to say.

Notice how a comma would make a difference in the meaning.

As always, context would make it clear what was intended.
