below vs beneath vs under

My gammar book says that I should choose...

It's dangerous to keep your cellphone [under / beneath] your pillow when you sleep.

under over beneath here.

And it also emphasizes...

Some dolphins can swim up to 1,000 feet [below / beneath / under] the surface of the ocean.

Here "below" and "beneath" are okay, but "under" is not a good choice.

What are all the differences?

I suggest you have a good read of the other thread in this sub-forum that's about almost exactly the same thing. What a coincidence.
